The Bumbling Proud (Grand)Mother Syndrome :)

Once again, I'm feeling that bumbling pride of a proud mother (or should I say, grandmother) for my dearest marchers, for nabbing the gold TWICE in a row now!

Despite only coming 3 times to help you guys... I had fun.
(Yes, instilling fear seems to be a inevitable hobby of mine at times like these ;)

Congratulations you lot!!
Let's see how far this tradition carries on, eh?

And FINALLY, at LONG LAST, after years and years and YEARS of pure diligence, hope, faith and that never-give-up fighting spirit;

FRANCIS.
HAS.
FINALLY.
WON!!

I'm just wee little bummed that it didn't happen our year... But eh. Some things just can't be helped.
Like, the judging for a few PARTICULAR events... Which led to very... Surprising results, so to speak. Perhaps the spectrum of the future is a little more narrow-minded for most than we thought..

Well, tough luck. There's always next year, no? : )

Ah... How I miss the sportsmanship and togetherness of lending a hand to make another Sports Day to remember by.
Being sunburnt, voiceless and mostly pooped out... (Oh wait.)
Being in school...
Guess letting go of school's pretty hard when you've had nothing to do but to bum around most of the time :/

P.S.
Did I mention how my family was gonna get a new addition soon? :D

The Visitor from the Land of the Rising Sun

Guilty of being charged for irregularity of posts.
But.

MY HOST SISTER FROM JAPAN IS COMING DOWN TODAY!!

Ah, the excitement!
I've even rearranged my room JUST for the occasion.

Whelp, back to cleaning my room.
And for those of you who know what my room looks like,
It's even WORSE off now...

Wahaha.

PHEW.

So first and foremost...
Results.

All I want to say is:

PHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEW.

I thought it'd be BAD.
REALLY bad.

Just a tiny tinge of regret left,
but nevertheless, CONTENT. :)

PRAISE THE LORD!!

Speaking of the Lord:
Level 1 Confirmation G.I.F.T. Camp was exhausting but exhilarating.
Spiritually engorged.
In a very good way :)
Haih, these crazy campers arh.
Gonna miss them ),:

Now off to a start to a busy busy BUSY week!
Registration and scholarship applications tomorrow!
Family outing to Alice in Wonderland the next!
Off to Penang with fellow Level 3 Confirmation campers!

Busy busy busy bee, I am.
Which is a GOOD thing.
Considering the bumming around for the past 3 months.

Ya la, what to do?
No inspiration to art fart.
AT ALL.

How am I gonna survive art college NOW la like this??
Aduhai...

Up To No Good

So. Hi.
Yes, I know, long time no blog.

So to those coming here often and wondering, what HAS this girl been up to ah?
I dedicate this quick run-through of my life thus far to yoooooooooooooooooooooooooou :DDD

Ready?
Set?
GO!!

Japan!
Evidently, I'm back. In one piece, relieved, happy, sad, wishing I could've stayed longer (heck, wishing I LIVED there), and just a little bit wiser CRAZIER than ever! 8DD I have a LOT to tell, but that's a story for another day. (yes I know, which should be veeeeeery soon.)

Post-school Activities!
Unfortunately, letting go of school is quite difficult.
Especially when it comes to being an (now, as I cringe to say it, ex) Assuntarian ),:
Forensics, marching and much more to come... Ho boy.

Church!
Finally getting myself more involved in church and the likes of it.
Being a disciple of God has never been better :)

LEO!
Gave me the most ups, downs, lefts, rights and centres.
From the Organ Donation Campaign, Musical Charity Concert, election and rather uh... Funny meetings, I'm not one to regret joining this immaculately crazy family!

Driving.

First lesson down and it seems to be... Urh. Interesting on the road.
Albeit a strange and rather stressful experience when it comes to my instructor...
(Though it's okay, I've had a LOT of practice from a particular Wasabe ;D)
But oooooh. The CLUTCH. How it hates me so.
Grr.

And...
Tomorrow.
...I'll just hope for the best D;

Now I shall attempt sleep.
:)

Temporary Hobo-ness.

What happens when one is locked out on one's grandpa's porch with too many bags lugged around and gets rained on.

Solution?

Multiple bags + laptop (pillow) + SUPER big umbrella =
Somewhat shelter + vague sleep e.g. temporary hobo-ness

I was temporarily a hobo.
It was... Fun.
Advisable to be tested ONLY for a short period of time.

Yes, I've been away on a long hiatus.
And I'll be gone on an even LONGER hiatus after this.

For the sake of LIT NIGHT.

In which I am inviting ALL of you to come! : D

Checkout our Facebook event for more details!
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=101326572718

I'm jittering with excitement.
It's going to be another BLAST.
Another memorable event to look forward to!

BE THERE!

Of Reminiscings, Frustration and Excitement.

Bah. Haven't the mood to write lately.
My written assignments come back with bad remarks anyway.

I'mstickingtoreadingforthetimebeingbah.

Busybusybuuuuuuuuuuuuuusy week.

But I had fun during Hari Anugerah Cemerlang last Saturday! :)
So yeah, for the first time in my entire 4 years I finally get an award. Academically-wise.
I don't even need to say what I got it for... It's pretty obvious kan?
It's the one thing I'm best at.

Heh.

Minus the conformed formalities...
I only enjoyed it because I got to see most of my lovely seniors again.
I really, really, REALLY missed seeing all those faces prowl the school grounds...

Oh oh and as a former choir member...
I'M SO PROUD OF THEM ALL!
They've brought up the club quite nicely, I must say.
I miss being a part of that family too *sigh*

Let's see... What else...
Oh. Results.
Heh.
Improved. But not improved enough.
My priorities go to a certain concert since it's nearing SO SOON...!!
(Which, btw, you guys had better watch out and COME for! ;D)

Ho hum. (<-- A result of KATE INFECTION.) Facilitating a kiddie church camp as of TOMORROW! : D
I don't think do well with 12 year olds, but I know I'm looking forward to having fun with my sister.
JUNGLE TREKKING, HERE I COOOOME!

8D

(I'm enjoying it while I can because it'll be one of my ONLY holidays I'll be having...)

Maybe I'll post mature, smarter, not-so-selfish thoughts later.

The Unexpected.

Wow. So he DID win.
Kris Allen's actually, really, almost-impossibly THE American Idol of Season 8.

That was an unexpected twist to the end.
I guess everyone got tired of Adam's performances.
They -were- repetitive in a way, was it not?

But Adam still has the better voice.
It's POWERFUL and UNIQUE.

Then again, you can't compare the two at all.
Like a certain Baba said, they're both a SPECIES ON THEIR OWN.

On another note...
My uncle just passed away.

Well, I haven't really much to say, honestly.
I never really got to know my dad's side as much as I did with my mom's.
I don't even remember his name...

What I do know is that another family member's lost.
And even though I vaguely remember him, I'm sure his presence will be missed.
Especially by my aunt and my 2 cousins.

Rest in Peace, uncle.
May the good Lord bless your soul.

Mama.

She used to be my only enemy and never let me be free
Catching me in places that I knew I should'nt be
Every other day I crossed the line I didn't mean to be so bad
I never thought you would become the friend I never had

I didn't want to hear it then but I'm not ashamed to say it now
Every little thing you said and did was right for me
I had a lot of to think about, about the way I used to be
Never had a sense of my responsibility

Back then I didn't know why
Why you were misunderstood

It's been a heck of a smooth bumpy crazy road down my seventeen years of life with you.

How you had to put up with my irrational and over-emotional teenager-ism.
How you had to chaffeur me up and down and all around at the oddest times, and to the furthest places.
How you had to endure my technical needs for MONEYMONEYMONEY(blame recession ah...)
How you patiently stocked up on my every wants and needs to make a happy, healthy me.
How you do it with 3 other monkeys doing the exact same thing.

It's phenomenal.

But now I'm sure I know why,
Why you were misunderstood
So now I see through your eyes
All I can give you is love is love
Mama I love you. Mama, I care
Mama, I love you. Mama, my friend,You're my friend

Cliche as this may seem,
Thank you for everything you've done, do and will do for me.

Who would I be without you?

Happy Mother's Day!

Accident Prone.

Yes, fear the hairy leg

So I got hit today.
By a motorcycle.

Was that my punishment for not (really) studying for exams?

Before you ask:

  • It happened this afternoon, right after school (or technically, yesterday's).
  • Right in front of Gate B.
  • When I was crossing the road.
  • Didn't see it coming.
  • It wasn't hit and run. He was nice enough to check whether I was okay.

Ditto.

As you can clearly see, I'm still very much alive and well.
Just busy recovering from the embarrassment.
DX

So... Exams. Heh.
If that feeble excuse of a laugh doesn't get the message across, I don't know what will.
Well, I don't care, as long as I get FANTABULOUS MARKS FOR SPM.

BM
, English essays, Literature, Science, Econs, subjective Maths down, a HELLUVA lot more to go.
Another week of stressful-cramming-of-facts-into-brain, here I come~
After a goooooooood day's rest, eh? ;D

I just hope I don't get too many murukus of a paper...
Meaning I'm just beating around the bush. Round and round and round.
D;

Oh well.

I comfort myself with a good mug of Maggi-in-a-cup and the soothing chirps of temporary pet crickets.
You guys should try it some day. ;D

The Blind Leading the Blind.

None so blind as those that will not see.
Matthew (Matthew) Henry

A truly eye opening experience.
(Well, not in a LITERAL sense doh.)
Despite it being my second year doing this, the agonizingly 3km long walk was more fun-filled than usual (plus a few surprises! :D)

I arrived at the Civics Hall bright and early to find many menghitam-ed faces to greet me.
Or browned. Or redened. Roasted? lol
A good laugh to start a good day :)
There wasn't as much feeling of competition as I thought that would be, mostly because the Assuntarians had a 'Que Sera Sera' attitude going on since we figured Taman Sea would win with their huge numbers.
(Well, maybe not everyone. But I certainly did.)

Yeah, a competition this time around (thanks to Lions being inspired by Taman Sea's display last year), there were banners to be done and posters to be made. But I was really busy preparing for Sports Day, I couldn't do anything to contribute ):
I only demanded the balloons. XD

Thanks to Pei San, Xui Hui, Sharvani and Kah Yan who made it all happen! :,D

The Ingenius product of my incoming funding directors!
Now you see why they deserve the titles??

I just can't get over how CUTE this is!! XD
"Are you thinking what I'm thinking B1?" "I think I am, B2." "It's EYE AWARENESS TIME!"
Bwahaha.

I was stunned by the amount of posters that popped out of nowhere.
You guys seriously did a great job distributing work. X,D

My partner this time around was the ever so modest Daarshy! :D
The strangest thing is that when I'm blindfolded, I always get the feeling that I'm about to walk into a tiang.
But I trust you, Daarsh!
We trusted each other so much, I even sprinted blind. See??
Except the part where she didn't tell me there was a ledge in front of me... *cough*
I feel guilty for not being as much of a guider as her so yeah.
Sorry, Daarsh! X,D

We screamed ourselves silly with the Leo songs, our school cheers and even our school song when we passed by our school. Haha, the embarrassment man!

Oh, but the weirdest part was when a Lion came by (in all seriousness) and started separating us.
Until now, I still don't know what his motive was.
To make us feel how lost and fearful one gets as the blind?
Either way, it was pretty weird...

All said and done, the walk finally ended.
The lucky draw was another long, painful wait.
Only 2 Assuntarians got lucky:

Our dearest Penguin Wen Yuin with her Coffee Maker!
And little Miss President Ber-nice with her Free Dental Appointment!
Congrats you two! :D

Then it was time to announce the winners of the competition...
And we only got FIRST PLACE!
It was totally unexpected which, as quoted, made it all the sweeter.
Better yet, we're appearing in today's China Press!
Guess nothing compares to Assuntarian spirit! ;D

Potong stim though, that they had to do it in the middle of the lucky draw.
Some people just don't know how to leave others to wallow in their victory, do they?
Oh well. At least we won. :)

Our cutesy Pressie with the ginormous trophy

The people who made it happen!

A bunch of us savouring the win >D

Celebrated at Lotus with the PJIs.
(though both groups were stubborn to not budge until we decided to move to them. Hmph!)
Thanks a ton again, Syahira, for the belanja! D,:

See?
Community service is supposed to be fun this way.
:)

My Little Green Warriorettes!

Dear Francis marchers.

What you laid out on the field today was your heart.
The fact that you did that alone was enough to make me drink coke and mentos and explode from the inside of happiness! (Okay, maybe not so much of a horrible death. Just something to that extent. ;D)

You all know very well what I have to say.
But I just want to say this again:

Even without that little piece of metal hanging around your neck, the memories you all have given me I will cherish for the rest of my life.

Building Bridges.

Indeed, our main theme for the day has been:
BONDING.

:D

I made a lot of surprising little discoveries.
Take this for example:

I wanted to use this as a blackmail photo but hey.
Since it's out in the open already (thanks, Darius! :D), I might as well.

One of my dearest marchers COSPLAYS!
O:

She's so insane she wrecked havoc in the canteen.
One big, fat scream after another.
Then Cassandra proceeding to DEMONSTRATE it.
All this because she found out a whole other bunch of us could draw. Lol la, budak ni... Lol.

I swear, I have recruited the craziest bunch of wackos yet.

Our Sewing Squad proved that as well.
XD

I love bonding sessions; especially with classmates.
I've been out so long, it's been light years since I've actually sat down to spew nonsense.
Ah, I miss the times when I used to be CARE-FREE.
Form 3! ),:

Sports Day is in less than 33 HOURS.
As long as I don't lose my sexy voice COMPLETELY.
As long as we complete everything tomorrow...

Anxiety attacks: not good.

I pray, I really pray.
Everything gets better...

Thank you. Thank you for all those encouraging words.

Hear Ye, My Ex-Form 5 Buddies!

Okay, I know I'm going against my rules to be writing here but...
I just had to say this.
Because I was stuck in the classroom doing my God forsaken Science test that I did not study for. Because I was that excited to see you guys.

So here's to all my (now) ex-form 5 buddies out there!
Old and new alike.
You know who you are.

'Cause you cared enough to read this blog. : D

CONGRATS YOU LOT!!
YOU DID AWESOME! I know you did.

I'M SO PROUD OF YOU GUUUUUUUUYS!!

*distributes free virtual hugs around*

Yeah.
I shall resume to my no-blog-contact-for-the-rest-of-Lent vow now.

Dang it.

Too lazy to write my own comments right now. Maybe I'll do it later.
Too lazy to tag anyone, too... For now.

Anyways, just a quick update on what happened on my last sukantara.

I surprised myself by doing 19.41 seconds for 100 metres, 2 marks for lompat jauh, and 3 marks for lontar peluru.
Especially shocked myself for lompat jauh.
That's the one event that isn't my forte.
Or as our dearest Mallini would put it: not even my piano. XD

Uberly happy that I got to contribute at least that much for my beloved Francis!
May victory come our way once more!!

Okay, I've had enough of this self-pride thing.
Definitely not my cup of tea.

Of Running and Singing.

My last Merentas Desa commenced yesterday.
Strangely enough, the route seemed much shorter this year, despite it being the same torturous 3km every. Single. Time.

Maybe the music sped things up a little? (You see? Music actually HELPS. Claiming that it was 'distracting'... Nonsense.)
But my sister mentioned the same thing too. Hmm..

I'm happy to say I got at least a point for my house.
I got 64th in my class.

My fatty dad laughed at me for it.
Then he turns to my darling sister and congratulates HER on her 11th placing.
Gosh.
It's okay, though.
'Cause I know he wouldn't have done as much of a good job as I did any day.

:D

The Leo Idol auditions were right after at 3.

Yes, dear followers, you read right.
I joined Leo Idol.
Just for the fun of it. I really didn't take it seriously.
Until that is, we were in the waiting room.

They made it sound so... SERIOUS.

"Not as harsh as American Idol"?
Utter rubbish.

Anyway, 41 auditioned.
I was the 38th.
Keilly, first.
Zi-Lynn, 39th.

The wait seemed like FOREVER.

It's pass 5 pm: the time we're supposed to finish.
But just when I thought the auditions couldn't get any longer...
It was my turn.

Cue adrenaline rush! I literally just bounced off my seat in a fright.
This wait, however, I wished would go on for forever...

The door bangs open.
I hold my breath, brace myself and stride in.

I can't really remember what happened, but I DO know I embarrassed myself TOTALLY in the beginning. I didn't know what I was saying, ugh...
My song choices were Shout to the Lord and Love Song by Sara Bareilles.
Alas, I had, quote judge, 'no volume'.
Not in a literal sense, of course.
If it were, I'd say he was blind. XD

Don't worry, folks.
I didn't get in.
:D

But the most EMBARRASSING part was that I ran out of that room and FELL FLAT INTO THE DRAIN.
Gah. So TYPICAL of me!

Despite all that happened, I enjoyed the experience.
It's really like no other.
It felt good to try something out of my comfort zone for a change.

THE Forensics!

(Late as this post may be, it just wouldn't be right if NOTHING were to be said about something so GREAT)

With our trademark in-the-bus noise making, meeting of familiar faces, sparking of new friendships, and the ever-so-familiar rush of adrenaline as our numbers are called to stage...

(Oh, but let's not forget. The constant BOY WATCHING. Admit it you lot.)

The SEA Forensics Tournament made it's come back.

And so did us ASSUNTARIANS. >)

So so happy that I made it to the Semis this time!
And I couldn't have done it without the help of
Nicola Anne de Bruyne Choon Ming Wei
!
Hats off to you, me little partner!!

Also, a special SHOUT OUT to Shannya, Huda, Mayu, Ale, Sulu and Mal for helping the both of us immensely to get us so far!

Plunging in headstrong with 22 participants, 15 semi-finalists, 6 finalists and 4 BRONZES!
And with that, we nabbed the Rafidah Award. The 2nd place for Sweepstakes was definitely an added bonus!

I said it once, but I'll say it again:
You guys did AWESOME! I'm very very proud of you all. :,)

And it's back to homework parring and mundane school time-tables we go.
...Bother.

We Came Down to Watch the World Go By

Finally, a full day and a half outta the house.
I am now one super duper happy, satisfied and wiped out kid.

:D

Got dragged out of bed to kick start the day with a little 3 hour trip to the dentist.

Oh oh! I got my very very first X-RAY! 8D
Yeah yeah, it's only a miniscule sheet compared to the usual sizes you'd get but hey!
I have every right to savour my first-timer 'jakun'-tedness.

Turns out, I really am missing a tooth.
I think I swallowed it as a glop of flesh as a kid. Hmm...
Hope the orthodontist agrees to patch up that big gap between my two front teeth though...

After a hefty meal of the dim sum at Kim Seng (Note to self: That Taman Megah serves AWESOME dim sum), then proceeded to Zi-Lynn's open house!
Arrived just in time to lunch outside alongside Micheh, Kateh, Keilly and KK.
Had a blast contributing to noise pollution via Guilty Gear, DDR and banging piano keys with you guys!

Learnt Chor Dai Di and sang-along to much songs with Eric and Mun Suet.
Pitiful skills. But we're getting there!!

Quiet a funny little sight, really:
Lying 'selamba'-ly on the floor with pillows playing Chor Dai Di while singing mindlessly to familiar songs, then jolting from the sudden blast of cantonese from the sound system downstairs.

Then after...

Inkheart
Rating : 2 out of 5

Honestly, I don't quite like it.
The whole movie was quite monotonous: not revolving around laughter or tears...
Nothing.
Just bland lines. A big no- no on my good movie list.

Character-wise, only Dustfinger, Kashim and the author caught my attention.
The aunt was getting there, but not quite.

As it is, it's not quite as thrilling as the book.
In fact, it doesn't follow the book at all.

Though I quite like the idea of the half-reads having letter-like tattoos across their faces and limbs. The specials effects were really good too.

So overall, I wouldn't recommend this movie at all.
Only if you're looking for good graphics.
Oh, and maybe learn a few fire breathing tricks.

:P

Patience.

Someone could only ever stand unwavered for so long.
No matter how solid that facade of a brick wall it may be, it eventually chips and cracks;
slowly hacked away by the hard persistence of unwanted invasions...

I believe the Chain Reaction thesis now.
One screeching led to another. Lecturing, sarcasm and bitter comments later.

To think I started the day with optimism...

-.-

Honestly, my only thread of hope for Saturday was looking forward to the LLC reunion.
Which, by the way, was well worth it.
x)

Anyways, back to the morn:
With the Forensics Workshop!

It was nostalgic to walk the ISKL grounds again.
Seeing familiar faces were comforting, even if I didn't know any of their names.

The OI workshop was fairly... Quiet. I was surprised how shy everyone was...

The Acting workshop was with Mrs Sahari again though.
Along with her two assistants whose names slipped my mind...
(Yes, I'm very bad with names, apologies...)
Funny how many returnees were at the acting workshop once more for reasons OTHER than the actual point of the whole workshop... XD

The long awaited LLC Reunion was then after!

I swear, you gather 6 pooped-out teenage girls, cram them into the small, restricted confinements of a car and you get deranged maniacal moments all the way.
Michi's version of ducking from the police (QUACK), Shereen's disturbing guffaws...

I salute your parents for their high tolerance level, Bern. *_*

Just like the year before, the reunion was all about the swings, laughter and SWEAT. Bucketloads of it. I'm glad my mom's mac and cheese made a good turnout. But you guys ah, I tell you... Little bit left, FINISH IT LA!! XD

It wasn't so much about the camp, but more of the company. Reminiscing about camp was out of the question! Except the certificates and camp CD distribution.
It was always that way.
Less memories, more GOSSIP!

>D

Highlight of the day was the See-saw Confession. Simple enough: introduce yourself, reveal crush. I swear Pei San, if you're so willing to tell the whole wide world about him, you might as well tell it to his face and take it from there! THEN. We talk business. >)

Zi-Lynn, you owe me that 1 other name. You only gave me 3! D:

Salutations to Daniel for getting it bugged outta him. Although it seemed like a helluva lot of names in your list...

I'm sorry to Weng Siong, Chien Lung, Taiko, CS and Eric for not getting anything out of me. I was about to tell ya'll, I swear! Finally got the guts to spill and me dad arrives... I'll still keep it under lock and key for now.

For chosen ears only. :)

My bad habits haven't died out yet.
This. Is not good.
Aaaagh...

Friday, January 16, 2009

Phew.

Another week almost over and done with.
It's only the SECOND week but we go higgledy-piggedy worrying about meetings, practices, elections, interviews, homework...

All over again.

House practice, by far, my only form of exercise, I love!
Thank God for no long jumps. Shot puts to flex my arms and my favourite 100-meter sprint to stretch my legs (to the point of cramps) make me feel gooooood.
Yay endorphins!

The daily morning marching practices begin.
Screaming commands on the top of my lungs with teachers staring at me from the staff room like I'm initiating some lunacy cult is exhilarating.
It's the only reason why I walk in class with a ridiculous grin slapped across my face.

Oh yeah, and after 4 years of being a loyal, hardcore badminton club member...
I join the chess club.
Don't lift your eyebrow at me, at least I know how to play.

I think the one thing which gets me riled up the most are all my ELDS related activities.
Haih, stress stress stress. Is that ALL you're going to give me...?

Speaking of education, one thing's for sure:
Taylor's College
is not the one for me!
